Patrik Laine on the trade block?: 5 possible landing spots

The trade: The Devils acquire Laine. The Blue Jackets acquire Arseni Gritsyuk and the No. 91 overall pick.

The Devils could use someone with Laine’s shot and scoring ability. Alex Holtz has a high ceiling at 22 years old and he has been decent, but it would not hurt to add a player with a similar skillset who could compete with him for power play time. Laine would bring a lot of upside to a New Jersey team looking to take the next step.

Gritsyuk, 23, is a former fifth-round pick who has been able to develop in the KHL. The Russian winger had 38 points in 50 games this season for SKA St. Petersburg. He should fit in nicely in the Blue Jackets lineup at some point in the future, assuming he comes over from Russia.
