10 breakout performers from the 2024 NBA Summer League
Jay Huff, Orlando Magic
Huff is a former national champion at Virginia who went undrafted in 2021 but has signed multiple two-way contracts over the past few years with the Lakers, Wizards and Nuggets. His 7-foot-1, 240-pound frame continues to make him a relatively intriguing prospect, and he showcased some nice ability on both ends of the floor while playing with the Magic during the summer league. Overall, Huff played five games and averaged just shy of 17 points in addition to five rebounds and 1.6 assists. Huff shot 62.1% from the field and 35.7% from 3-point range, encouraging numbers for a player known primarily as a defender who also blocked 2.2 shots per contest in Las Vegas. Huff’s offensive breakout could help the former G-League Defensive Player of the Year become a more consistent and sought-after bench player in the NBA.
