Ranking each Big 12 football head coach entering 2024 season
16. Kenny Dillingham, Arizona State
Dillingham has coached football since he was just 17 years old and is the youngest FBS head coach at 34 years old as he heads into his second season at Arizona State following a 3-9 campaign in 2023. With the experience he gained as an offensive coordinator at Memphis, Auburn, Florida State and Oregon, Dillingham has upside going forward, but the Sun Devils’ rebuild will likely take some time.
15. Scott Satterfield, Cincinnati
Satterfield has over a decade of head-coaching experience at Appalachian State, Louisville and Cincinnati and has gone 79-57 overall with four bowl wins. However, Satterfield’s success has decreased recently, particularly in his first season with the Bearcats as they went just 3-9 overall and 1-8 in Big 12 play. The 51-year-old has experience and could help Cincinnati improve as he brings in his own recruits, but it’s hard to get excited about where the program is at currently.
14. Deion Sanders, Colorado
It’ll be interesting to see what Sanders can do in year two at Colorado after the Buffaloes started strong last season but played poorly down the stretch. Sanders is ultimately one of the least experienced coaches in the Big 12 this year with a 31-14 overall record after three years at Jackson State and last season at Colorado. However, between some talented incoming recruits and transfers in addition to stars Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter, Coach Prime will have a strong roster in 2024 that should allow the program to start building some momentum.
