8. Tyrone Carter, S (1996-99)
A two-time All-American, Carter is Minnesota’s all-time leader with 528 tackles and the only Golden Gopher to win the Jim Thorpe Award. He holds three of the top eight spots in single-season tackles in school history and is ninth in single-season sacks with eight in 1998. Carter was the team captain in his final season and became a fourth-round selection in the 2000 NFL Draft, embarking on an 11-year career.
