Kalkbrenner would have been high on the list regardless, but his 49-point season debut cemented his status as one of the country’s elite big men. The three-time Big East Defensive Player of the Year averaged 3.1 blocks last season, and perhaps he will see a boost from his 17.3 points per game a season ago.
