Paul Goldschmidt’s free agency: 5 possible landing spots

Goldschmidt emerged as one of the top first basemen in baseball during his eight years with the Diamondbacks and a return to the desert as his MLB career winds down would be fitting. Goldschmidt would undoubtedly be a big draw for fans in a potential return to Arizona, but he could also have on-field value for a team that reached the World Series in 2023. Arizona fell just shy of returning to the postseason this past season but was one of the best hitting teams in the big leagues, ranking in the top five in average, OPS and home runs. However, the Diamondbacks could lose first baseman Christian Walker in free agency this offseason, and additional power bats like Josh Bell and Joc Pederson. Goldschmidt could help mask those potential losses and perhaps a return to Arizona could spark a bounceback season.
