AUSTIN, Texas (BVM) – Texas Longhorns freshman running back Jerrick Gibson’s latest NIL deal is with luxury car dealership Maserati of Austin.
“Jerrick Gibson and Maserati are built to excel, on the field and on the road,” reads the local dealership’s Instagram post from Monday. “Experience the thrill of performance behind the wheel with #Maserati.”

The details of the NIL deal haven’t been disclosed, including if Gibson drove off the lot with a vehicle or the duration of the contract. Many can recall when former UT RB Bijan Robinson secured a year-long partnership with Lamborghini Austin and drove a bright orange Lamborghini straight off the lot.
Gibson’s NIL valuation has been estimated at approximately $250,000, reflecting his status as one of the nation’s top freshman running backs. Off the field, his marketability shines with 20,000 followers on Instagram.
“I most definitely think some players just go after the bag,” Gibson told On3 before committing to Texas. “But I feel like a personal misconception is that I go after the bag. I don’t go off the bag. I go off playing time. Money is going to come when you produce.”
Undoubtedly, Gibson has produced in his first season. In 11 appearances, he’s rushed 67 times for 338 yards and four touchdowns.
“All these endorsers want someone who is balling in college,” Gibson previously told On3. “Nothing is guaranteed in NIL.”
Texas athletes are no strangers to NIL car deals. Isaiah Bond and Michael Taaffe were selected as Lamborghini Austin’s promotional partners at the start of the 2024 season. Earlier in the year, Matthew Golden, Ryan Wingo and Colin Simmons inked an NIL deal with Vanguard Volkswagen.
Overall, Longhorns athletes rank No. 2 in the nation for securing the most NIL deals, according to a report by JustGamblers, which analyzed On3’s NIL deal tracker data from March 2021 to May 2024. Per data obtained by Axios, UT football players earned $5.86 million in NIL dollars between August 2023 and April 2024.
