Arnold is a former five-star recruit who was a top-10 player in the Class of 2023 out of Guyer High School in Denton, Texas. He was viewed as a big recruiting win for Brent Venables and Oklahoma when he committed to the Sooners in 2022 and showed some nice flashes in limited playing time during his freshman year playing behind Dillon Gabriel.
However, Arnold’s first season as a full-time starter was inconsistent and he was even benched at one point for true freshman Michael Hawkins Jr. Arnold rebounded a bit after returning to action and following the firing of offensive coordinator Seth Littrell, highlighted by a solid outing in the Sooners’ upset win over Alabama in late November. Overall, he threw for 1,421 yards and 12 touchdowns during his sophomore campaign while completing 62.6% of his passes.
Despite the ups and downs, Arnold’s five-star talent and two remaining seasons of eligibility should lead to significant interest during his stay in the portal, and a transition to another high-profile SEC team is possible. Here are five landing spots for Arnold.
