The Padres look like a mess at the ownership level, but they still have to focus on improving the roster. San Diego has a strong trio at the top of its rotation with Dylan Cease, Michael King and Yu Darvish, but it has questions after that. Joe Musgrove will likely miss all of 2025 after having Tommy John surgery in October, and the Padres do not have many trustworthy starters beyond their main guys. Luis Arraez has been rumored as a trade candidate and he would be a perfect fit in the Bronx. Stroman plus a prospect or two could be enough for San Diego to move him.
