4. Garrett Nussmeier, LSU

A three-game losing streak in the middle of SEC play derailed LSU’s chances of reaching the College Football Playoff this past season, but the Tigers figure to be in the mix again in 2025 in part thanks to Nussmeier returning. Nussmeier was one of just five FBS quarterbacks to rack up over 4,000 passing yards this past season, throwing for 4,052 yards along with 29 touchdowns. The 6-foot-2, 200-pound signal caller may need to cut down on his interceptions after throwing 12 picks, but he did set a career high in completion percentage (64.2%) in 2024. Nussmeier’s upside is even greater in his second full season as a starter, in part thanks to the weapons LSU has added like wide receivers Nic Anderson and Barion Brown. He’ll be one of the top quarterbacks in the SEC and has the potential to lead the nation in passing yards.
