Mikael Granlund trade has ‘high probability’: 5 landing spots
SAN JOSE, Calif. (BVM) – The San Jose Sharks are last in points (36) in the NHL, but at least the organization has seen flashes from some of its young talent. Macklin Celebrini, Will Smith, William Eklund and Fabian Zetterlund is a fun core, but the team is far away from contending.
Mikael Granlund’s future is up in the air because of it.
The 32-year-old Finnish forward leads the team in points (44) and has been San Jose’s best player. Granlund is a free agent after the season, so the Sharks will likely explore what a return would look like for the veteran.
The Athletic’s Eric Stephens wrote, “It appears dealing Granlund is a high probability,” referencing general manager Mike Grier’s comments about no contract extension conversations taking place.
Granlund is a versatile forward and can help any contending team. These franchises could be the most interested in him.
