Top 5 Ohio State offensive coordinator candidates for 2025
Joe Moorhead
It’s fair to question if Moorhead would leave his Group of 5 head-coaching job, but Kelly set a precedent as a Power 4 head coach before arriving in Columbus last year. Moorhead would be a nice fit with the Buckeyes as an experienced coach with in-state ties. The 51-year-old has been a collegiate coach since the 1990s, spending time with Pittsburgh, Georgetown, Akron and UConn before becoming the head coach at his alma mater, Fordham. Moorhead went 35-13 in four seasons with the Rams and later became the head coach at Mississippi State, a stint sandwiched between offensive coordinator jobs at Penn State and Oregon. Moorhead has gone just 8-28 in three seasons as a head coach back at Akron. That could perhaps lead to interest in becoming a highly-regarded assistant once again with a top program in college football.
