5 Super Bowl champions who regret playing in the NFL

Harry Carson

Carson is one of the most accomplished linebackers in NFL history – boasting a Super Bowl victory with the New York Giants, nine Pro Bowl selections and a Pro Football Hall of Fame induction.

Despite his success, Carson revealed to Penn State radio station WPSU, “For me, knowing what I know, I would not have played the game (football).”

Carson, who estimated that he had 12-18 concussions, was diagnosed with post-concussion syndrome in 1990, just two years after retiring from the NFL. He said he noticed significant changes in his brain chemistry – to the point where the sound of a crying baby could push him over the edge, or certain smells would trigger an overwhelming urge to vomit.
