Top 10 freshman NCAA softball players of the 2025 season
2. Ella Harrison, RHP, Rutgers
Rutgers doesn’t garner a lot of attention and the Scarlet Knights are just a .500 team thus far in 2025. However, they have one of the best freshman pitchers on their side as Harrison’s numbers in the circle are hard to overlook. Like her team as a whole, Harrison’s win-loss record doesn’t stand out at 8-7, but her 1.83 ERA across 91 ⅔ innings, the most innings pitched in the country, is impressive. Harrison has thrown 10 complete games and recently threw her first collegiate no-hitter. She also had 16 strikeouts in that contest, part of 124 punchouts in total, leading the country by a wide margin. Rutgers may not be bound for the same success as some teams on this list, but Harrison will keep the Scarlet Knights competitive and could be in the mix to win Big Ten Freshman of the Year honors.
