Ranking the 10 greatest San Francisco Giants of all time
3. Willie McCovey, 1B, 1959-73, 77-80
Other than a few seasons with San Diego and Oakland, McCovey played almost two decades with the Giants. In those games, he hit 469 home runs, 1,113 runs and 1,974 hits in 7,214 at-bats. McCovey still holds the National League record with 18 career grand slams. He was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1986 and the Giants retired his jersey, No. 44, in 1980. McCovey Cove, the water behind Oracle Park, is also named in his honor.
