Ranking the 10 greatest Los Angeles Angels of all time
10. Rod Carew, 1B (1979-85)
Carew is most recognized for his time with the Minnesota Twins where he won an MVP award in 1977, but the last seven years of his MLB career with the Angels were also special. Carew was 33 by the time he suited up for Los Angeles, but continued to pad his Hall of Fame resume, making six more All-Star appearances for a total of 18 in his career. Carew’s ability at the plate continued to be impressive as he had a batting average over .300 in five seasons in California, and ranks second in Angels history with a career .314 average. Carew also ranks second in franchise history in on-base percentage (.393), and earned his 3,000th career hit with the Angels in August 1985. The legendary infielder is in both the Angels Hall of Fame and Baseball Hall of Fame, and is one of five Angels who have their number retired.
