Ranking the 10 greatest San Diego Padres of all time
8. Manny Machado, 3B (2019-present)
Machado will long be recognized for a brilliant start to his MLB career with the Baltimore Orioles, but he has been an incredibly impactful piece in the Padres’ lineup in recent years during one of the most successful stretches in franchise history. Machado has made two All-Star appearances since arriving in San Diego, part of six in his career. The two-time Gold Glove Award winner has also earned two Silver Slugger Awards since 2020, and finished second in MVP voting in 2022. Overall, Machado has hit .275 in his Padres career – a top-10 mark in franchise history – and already leads the franchise in career home runs with 169. His 546 RBIs are also the fourth-most among Padres players, while his 486 runs rank third.
