Ranking the 10 greatest San Diego Padres of all time

7. Ken Caminiti, 3B (1995-98)

Caminiti began his MLB career with an eight-year stint with the Houston Astros, but he took his game to another level with the Padres in the mid-1990s. Despite only spending four seasons in San Diego, Caminiti made one of the greatest impacts in franchise history as the only Padres player to ever win an MVP award. That came in the 1996 season when the third baseman hit a career-best .326 with 40 home runs and 130 RBIs, also career-high numbers. Caminiti followed that up with his third and final All-Star campaign in 1997, hitting 26 home runs with 90 RBIs. Caminiti was also a three-time Gold Glove Award winner during his time in San Diego and made his impact in the franchise record books with 121 career home runs, ranking 10th all time. He was posthumously inducted into the Padres Hall of Fame in 2016.
