Capitals re-sign Timothy Liljegren to two-year, $6.5M contract

Timothy Liljegren is sticking around in Washington. The Capitals re-signed the defenceman to a two-year, $6.5-million contract on Wednesday, the team announced. Liljegren, 27, was acquired by the Capitals from the San Jose Sharks ahead of this season's trade deadline. He appeared in just four games with Washington after he joined the team. In his 43 games with the Sharks before the trade, he recorded one goal and 10 assists. Over 311 career NHL games with the Capitals, Sharks and Toronto Maple Leafs, the Swede has 21 goals and 72 assists. Liljegren was selected by the Maple Leafs 17th overall...
