Ranking the top 10 Chicago White Sox players of all time
CHICAGO (BVM) – The Chicago White Sox are one of the American League’s eight charter franchises and were established as an MLB club in 1900 (Chicago White Stockings) before shortening their name to the White Sox in 1904.
The franchise won its first World Series in 1906 against the Chicago Cubs and won another in 1917 against the New York Giants. But their next World Series appearance in 1919 was marred by the Black Sox Scandal where eight members of the team were found to have conspired with gamblers to fix games and lose the 1919 World Series to the Cincinnati Reds.
It would take the White Sox 87 years to win another World Series (2005) which stands as the second-longest MLB championship drought of all time (Cubs’ 107 seasons).
From early dominance to scandal, mediocrity and re-gained success, the White Sox have produced some of the most important figures in MLB history. With the 2023 MLB season underway, here’s a look back at the top 10 White Sox players of all time.
