Top 5 XFL players who could be in the NFL in 2023
ARLINGTON, Texas (BVM) – The third ever XFL season started with plenty of former NFL and Division I talent on rosters. Players that weren’t ready to end their football careers hoped that an impressive showing in the XFL this spring would give them a chance to get invited to NFL training camps. Those hopes could come true for some players who have dominated the XFL this year.
There were plenty of recognizable names who wore an XFL jersey this season but here are some names that could end up on an NFL roster this fall.
Honorable mention
Hakeem Butler, WR, St. Louis Battlehawks
Butler has been electric in the XFL this season. The 6-foot-7, 227-pound wide receiver has developed a strong rapport with Battlehawks quarterback AJ McCarron and it has led to electric plays on offense. The former Iowa State wide receiver and fourth-round pick in the 2019 NFL Draft has put on a good showing in the XFL. He has been one the top receivers with 51 receptions for 599 yards and eight touchdowns.

Michael Joseph, CB, DC Defenders
Joseph has been one of the best defenders in the XFL this season. The defensive back is tied for the second–most interceptions in the league with four and he’s returned two of those picks for touchdowns. Joseph also has 41 tackles and one tackle for loss for the Defenders. The former Dubuque Spartan spent four seasons with the Chicago Bears either on the practice squad or on the roster and could be back in the NFL based on his play this spring.
Michael Joseph is RIDICULOUS. He picks off AJ McCarron, and takes it to the house to put DC up 14-0.
Joseph now has three interceptions on the @XFL2023 season, returning two for a score. This guy is an absolute ballhawk. #XFLpic.twitter.com/auavBz1r7g

Luq Barcoo, CB, San Antonio Brahmas
Barcoo has bounced around the NFL over the last three seasons but was never able to find a home. As a Brahma, Barcoo has racked up more than 10 passes defended, 31 tackles and three tackles for loss. Many believe his play in the XFL for San Antonio has earned him the opportunity to get back to the NFL.
Heck of an interception by Luq Barcoo, to give the ball right back to the @XFLBrahmas.
While it's been a rough season for San Antonio, @luqmanbarcoo has been absolutely stellar week in and week out. Deserves an NFL camp opportunity. #XFL | @XFL2023pic.twitter.com/ajSBGavJBV
