Josh Jacobs’ free agency: 5 landing spots for All-Pro RB

LAS VEGAS (BVM) – Plenty of stars will be available during NFL free agency, particularly at the running back position. One of the headliners of the group is Las Vegas Raiders’ All-Pro running back Josh Jacobs.

Recently, Tashan Reed of The Athletic reported that the Raiders have yet to engage in contract extension talks with their star running back and are unlikely to franchise tag him for the second consecutive year as it would cost them upwards of $13 million. While there is still a chance Jacobs returns to Las Vegas, it seems likely that he could be testing the free-agent waters in the coming weeks.

Jacobs should have plenty of suitors in free agency as he is just 26 years old and has put together a strong NFL resume since becoming a first-round pick out of Alabama in 2019. The 5-foot-10, 220-pound back has posted three 1,000-yard seasons in five years with the Raiders and has become a two-time Pro Bowl selection.

One of those came in his lone All-Pro season in 2022 where Jacobs led the league with 1,635 rushing yards and scored 12 rushing touchdowns while averaging just shy of five yards per carry.

Jacobs has also proven to be a receiving threat out of the backfield through the years and posted 53 receptions for 400 receiving yards in 2022 as well.

Seeking a long-term deal last offseason, Jacobs held out until late August when he signed a one-year deal to stay in Vegas. It could be part of why he struggled to regain his 2022 form last year as he ran for just 805 yards while averaging only 3.5 yards per carry.

Despite the down year, Jacobs has proven what he is capable of in the right setting and could be a valuable addition to another team’s backfield this offseason. Here are five potential landing spots for Jacobs in free agency.
