Mercer Women’s Soccer Falls 2-1 to Furman Despite Dominant Performance

The Mercer women’s soccer team suffered a narrow 2-1 defeat to Furman in a hard-fought match in Greenville, South Carolina. Freshman Maria Karipidis scored Mercer’s lone goal on a penalty kick in the 88th minute. Despite a strong performance in the first half, Mercer couldn’t find the back of the net until late in the game. Furman scored two goals, including one from a penalty kick, to secure the victory. Mercer outshot Furman and had more shots on goal, but couldn’t convert their chances. Maria Karipidis’ goal extended Mercer’s streak of scoring in consecutive games to 17. The Bears will…
