Jim Everett, Tommy McDonald headline Albuquerque’s NFL best

10. Richard Angulo, TE, Sandia

Though born in Santa Ana, California, Angulo played his prep football at Sandia High School. While he wasn’t a strong standout for the Matadors, Angulo was undeterred in pursuing his NFL dream, joining Western New Mexico University as a walk-on. After excelling for the Mustangs, Angulo became the first player ever drafted out of the school when he was selected in the seventh round, No. 254 overall, by the St. Louis Rams in the 2003 NFL Draft. Angulo played four NFL seasons, getting snaps in 27 games with six starts while catching 17 passes for 155 yards and one score for four teams from 2003-08.
