Zack Martin, Mark Clayton top Indianapolis’ 10 best NFL stars

8. Morten Andersen, K, Ben Davis

Andersen’s journey to Indianapolis was unique as he grew up in Copenhagen, Denmark as a gymnast, long jumper and soccer player. Eventually, he found his way to the states as an exchange student, first playing football at Ben Davis High School. He impressed enough to earn a scholarship to Michigan State where he became an All-American and nailed a conference-record 63-yard field goal. Andersen was eventually inducted into the Michigan State University Athletics Hall of Fame in 2011. The kicker landed in the NFL with the New Orleans Saints where he would remain through 1994. Andersen then joined the Falcons where he kicked Atlanta into the Super Bowl in 1998.

After stints with the Giants, Chiefs and Vikings, Andersen returned to Atlanta where he concluded his incredible 25-year NFL career. The Hall of Fame kicker currently ranks second all time in field goals made, third in extra points made, and second in scoring with 2,544 total points.
