Redrafting the 2020 NFL Draft QB class two years later

5. Jordan Love

Original pick: No. 26

There might not have been a more controversial moment of the 2020 NFL Draft than when the Green Bay Packers traded up to select Love at No. 26 overall. Future Hall of Fame QB Aaron Rodgers was still playing at a high level while Love was a relatively unknown prospect from Utah State and the first player from a Group of Five conference chosen in that draft. Nearly three years later, there are just as many questions. Rodgers has since won back-to-back MVPs and Love has only appeared in nine games, throwing just 80 passes. The third-year QB made his first NFL start on Nov. 7, 2021 after Rodgers tested positive for COVID-19 and underwhelmed, completing just 55% of his passes for 190 yards, one touchdown and one interception during a 13-7 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. For his career in limited action, Love has completed 60% of his passes for 597 yards, three touchdowns and three interceptions with a passer rating of 80.1. It remains to be seen if Love can be the Packers’ future, or even just a starting NFL quarterback, and for that reason, he checks in at No. 5.
