4. Billy Smith, G (1972-89)
Smith was selected by the Islanders during the 1972 NHL Expansion Draft after being initially drafted by the Los Angeles Kings in 1970. He spent 17 seasons there and became the all-time winningest netminder in Islander’s history.

His No. 31 was retired in 1993, and he entered the Hockey Hall of Fame the same year.
