Smartest NFL QBs in the AFC by GPA, degree, Wonderlic score

AFC EAST 

Josh Allen (Buffalo Bills)

Allen ended high school with a 3.8 GPA. The QB, who played one year at Reedley Community College and three years at Wyoming, received his bachelor’s degree in social science in December 2017. His Wonderlic test score from the 2018 NFL Combine was 37/50 (above average).

Mac Jones (New England Patriots) 

Jones earned two degrees with a perfect 4.0 GPA. The Alabama QB received his bachelor’s degree in business communications within three years (2019) followed by a master’s degree in sports hospitality (2020). His Wonderlic test score from the 2021 NFL Combine was 19/50 (below average).

Tua Tagovailoa (Miami Dolphins) 

Tagovailoa maintained a B average for his grades while playing high school football in Hawaii. The QB earned his bachelor’s degree in communication after just three years with the Crimson Tide. His Wonderlic test score from the 2020 NFL Combine was 19/50 (below average). 

Zach Wilson (New York Jets) 

Wilson’s GPA is N/A. During his time at the BYU Cougars QB, Wilson updated his LinkedIn with, “Would like to earn a finance degree,” however, it’s unclear if he achieved his bachelor’s after forgoing his senior season for the 2021 NFL Draft. His Wonderlic test score from the 2021 NFL Combine is N/A.
