Top 10 Texas high school baseball players in Class of 2023
10. Ethan Mendoza, SS, Southlake Carroll
The Dragons captured a Class 6A state championship last season but return very few starters from that talented, 34-8 squad. However, Mendoza is one of them after he batted .406 with 25 RBIs for Southlake Carroll as a junior. At 5-foot-10, 170 pounds, Mendoza isn’t the most physically imposing, but he’s much more powerful and explosive than his listed weight suggests. The right-handed hitter with speed and an accurate arm in the infield is headed to play baseball at Arizona State. But first, Mendoza will help the 17th-ranked Dragons defend their 6A state title.
