Titans shopping Derrick Henry; top 5 landing spots for star RB

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (BVM) – Over the last several years, Derrick Henry has arguably been the most dominant running back in the NFL. The Tennessee Titans have used him as the catalyst of their offense, and that has led the team to plenty of success.

In 2019, the Titans rode Henry all the way to the AFC Championship game as the running back made his first Pro Bowl. The following year in 2020, Henry had arguably the best season of his NFL career, leading the league in rushing yards (2,027) and rushing touchdowns (17).

He was on pace for similar numbers in 2021 before a Jones fracture in his foot would cause him to miss the second half of the regular season. Still, the Titans were finding success, winning the AFC South in 2020, and earning the No. 1 seed in the AFC in 2021.

Even coming off an injury-marred season, Henry still showed flashes of dominance this past season, with 1,538 rushing yards and 13 touchdowns. He was also more involved in the pass game in 2022, grabbing a career-best 33 receptions for 398 yards.

Despite Henry’s continued success, the Titans faltered down the stretch, losing their final seven games to finish 7-10 and miss the playoffs for the first time since 2018. Now, with uncertainty surrounding the future of the roster for Mike Vrabel’s squad, Tennessee appears to be looking towards a rebuild.

Veteran offensive lineman Taylor Lewan has already been let go, quarterback Ryan Tannehill could be moving on, and earlier this week, it was reported the Titans are shopping Henry

Although the former Heisman Trophy winner from Alabama has only been in the league seven years, he has a lot of wear on his legs at age 29, and has received 300 or more carries in three of his last four seasons, the lone exception being his eight-game 2021 campaign in which he had still already carried the ball 219 times.

With the bruising style in which Henry runs, there is no doubt his shelf life in the league may be shorter than some other backs. Yet, with what he showed last season, it is also clear the 6-foot-3, 250-pound back still has plenty of juice left, and would be an instant help to any offense he’s on.

Here’s a look at the top five landing spots for Henry should the Titans decide to trade him this offseason.
