Top 5 WNBA Rookie of the Year candidates for 2023

5. Jordan Horston, G/F, Seattle Storm

Horston is entering a Seattle team that is in year one of life without Sue Bird and Breanna Stewart which means there is a chance for her to fill in the void. By no means will Horston replace either, but her playmaking ability and her ability to create her own shot off the dribble gives Horston the chance to take on a decent amount of offensive responsibility in her first year. The 6-foot-2 guard can create matchup problems for shorter guards and bigger forwards due to her size and athleticism. Horston will also be able to develop more as a passer, giving her a chance to get open looks for her teammates when defenses collapse on her. The Storm need to look to the future now and that means building around a player like Horston. She should get plenty of chances this season to show why she’ll be in the running for rookie of the year.
