Top 10 all-time leading scorers in Illinois HS basketball
2. Andy Kaufmann, Routt/Jacksonville (1984-88)
Kaufmann wowed fans in the mid-80s. He would average 31.7 points per game in high school. And he set the state record with 97 straight games scoring in double figures. Kaufmann’s 3,160 total points put him at No. 2 in state history. He then parlayed that into greater success with the Illinois Fighting Illini.
A buzzer beater from Andy Kaufmann lifted the Illini past Iowa, 78-77 on February 4, 1993.
