Top 10 Wisconsin football defensive players of all time

8. Tom Burke, DE, 1995-98

A member of the 1998 Big Ten championship and 1999 Rose Bowl-winning team, Burke put together a senior season that still stands out in the record books. With 22 sacks and 31 tackles for loss in the 1998 season, Burke set the Big Ten records in both categories for a single season.

He became Wisconsin’s first unanimous consensus first-team All-American since 1959 and added the 1998 Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year to his trophy case.  Burke was drafted by the Arizona Cardinals in the third round of the 1998 NFL Draft.
