10 NFL teams that have won the Super Bowl after 0-1 start

San Francisco 49ers, 1981

One of the sport’s most recognizable dynasties actually began with a loss. In the first game of the 1981 season, the 49ers fell to the Detroit Lions 24-17 in the Pontiac Silverdome in Detroit.

While the loss put a damper on the start of the season, it did not stop San Francisco from achieving greatness as they went on to win 13 of their next 15 games to end the regular season 13-3. In the playoffs, they beat the New York Giants and Dallas Cowboys on their way to the Super Bowl where they defeated the Cincinnati Bengals 26-21 to become the first team in NFL history to start a season 0-1 and win the Super Bowl.
