Ranking the top 10 Kansas City Chiefs QBs of all time

5. Joe Montana (1993-94)

While Montana is best known for his time with the San Francisco 49ers, he had a great two-year run with the Chiefs to end his career. In his first season in Kansas City in 1993, Montana threw for 2,144 yards, 13 touchdowns and seven interceptions while leading the Chiefs to an 8-3 record in 11 starts and earning Pro Bowl honors. This performance carried over to the playoffs, where Montana helped Kansas City reach just their third conference championship game in franchise history, though they’d lose to the Bills.

Montana was successful again the following season throwing for 3,283 yards, 16 touchdowns and nine interceptions while leading the Chiefs to a 9-5 record over 14 starts and another playoff appearance, though they fell to the Miami Dolphins in the divisional round. The quarterback finished his time in Kansas City with 5,427 yards, 29 touchdowns and 16 interceptions and ranks No. 12 in both passing yards and touchdowns in franchise history.
