Ranking the top 10 games of the Red River Rivalry

8. 1994: No. 15 Texas 17, No. 16 Oklahoma 10

The 1994 season wasn’t necessarily one to write home about for either program, though Texas did manage a win in the Sun Bowl to finish the year 8-4, but both teams were ranked coming into the contest, creating yet another intriguing matchup in the Red River Rivalry. While it was a lower scoring game than some on this list, the fourth quarter brought plenty of excitement. Texas, behind freshman quarterback James Brown, held a 17-10 lead with under a minute remaining. However, the Sooners had driven the ball to the Texas three-yard line. On fourth down with just 43 seconds remaining, James Allen, an eventual hero in this rivalry a couple of years later, took the ball to the one-yard line where he was met by Texas nose tackle Stonie Clark who made a key stop, preserving the victory for the Longhorns.
