Ranking the top 10 games of the Red River Rivalry
5. 2008: No. 5 Texas 45, No. 1 Oklahoma 35
The 2008 game of the Red River Rivalry is one that many fans will never forget, as both teams entered the contest undefeated and ranked in the top five of the AP poll. The contest also featured a quarterback battle between Colt McCoy and Sam Bradford, resulting in plenty of offensive fireworks. No. 1 Oklahoma got out to a 21-10 lead in this one, and still led 35-30 until midway through the fourth quarter when Cody Johnson ran in a touchdown for Texas, giving them a lead they would not relinquish. Despite throwing for five touchdowns, Bradford’s efforts were not enough, as the Longhorns moved to No. 1 in the country following the impressive win. However, the Sooners would have the last laugh, earning a trip to the BCS National Championship game that year.
On this day in 2008: 45-35.
