Montez Sweat on the trade block? 5 possible landing spots
5. Las Vegas Raiders
The Raiders are in a bit of no man’s land when it comes to the 2023 season. Yes, they’re second in the AFC West behind the Kansas City Chiefs, but they are just 3-4 and currently on the outside looking in on the postseason. With the release of defensive end Chandler Jones earlier this season, fellow defensive end Maxx Crosby has been the lone reliable pass rusher for Las Vegas as he has registered six and a half sacks while no other Raiders player has more than one.
Sweat would instantly improve the team’s defensive end problem while allowing this year’s first overall pick Tyree Wilson to continue to learn behind him. Las Vegas also has a connection to Sweat as senior defensive analyst Rob Ryan was on the Commanders coaching staff back in 2019. If the Raiders are truly “trying to win” as Russini reported, then getting a player of Sweat’s caliber would certainly express that.
