Comeback Player of the Year: Damar Hamlin, S, Buffalo Bills
Nobody will ever forget one of the NFL’s scariest nights last January as Hamlin collapsed on the field during the Bills’ Week 17 contest with the Cincinnati Bengals. In an unprecedented situation, the remainder of the game was canceled as Hamlin was rushed to the hospital following a cardiac arrest on the field. So much worse could have come out of the situation, but thankfully, Hamlin has made an incredible comeback to return to full health.
Even more impressively, he has returned to the field with the Bills. Hamlin has only suited up once so far this season, back in the Bills’ Week 4 win over the Miami Dolphins, but that’s already an incredible feat in what is already one of the best comeback stories in the history of sports. Guys like Tua Tagovailoa and Breece Hall have nice comeback stories in their own right, but it’s hard to imagine they would beat out that of Hamlin.
