Top 10 Texas girls basketball players in Class of 2024
10. Zachara Perkins, F, Summer Creek
Perkins is the daughter of former Virginia Cavaliers and WNBA star DeMya Walker-Wheatfall and it shows with her skills on the court. The 6-foot-2 forward led the way for the 35-5 Bulldogs, helping the team make it all the way to the Region III-6A final as she earned Class 6A all-state honors.
Given her basketball background and her success at Summer Creek, Perkins received plenty of attention from scouts including a four-star ranking from Prospects Nation and the No. 13 ranking in the state by Premier Basketball. She held a number of D-I offers including Coastal Carolina, Houston, North Texas, Syracuse and Tulsa among others, but ultimately chose to commit to Rutgers on May 6.
