9. Ben Hammond, G, Paul VI
Hammond is another point guard who has earned national recognition from his play in the Commonwealth. The 5-foot-11 guard helped the Panthers to a 31-4 record and the team’s second straight Virginia Independent Schools Athletic Association state title. For his efforts, Hammond earned VISAA Division I second-team all-state honors.
Hammond is ranked as high as the No. 10 player in the state by Prep Hoops and the No. 179 player in the country by 247Sports. The guard held seven offers from the likes of George Mason, Radford and Towson, but committed and signed to Rhode Island on Nov. 8.
