Ty Thompson transferring; 5 landing spots for signal caller
5. Auburn
The Tigers may be looking for an upgrade at quarterback this offseason. After missing out on big names in last year’s portal, Auburn ended up with Michigan State transfer Payton Thorne, who was seen as a consolation prize rather than a splashy addition. This season, Thorne played adequately for the Tigers, throwing for 1,671 yards, 15 touchdowns and nine interceptions.
While Thorne did fine and still has one year of eligibility, the Tigers would be wise to give Thompson a call. Thompson has a lot of talent and head coach Hugh Freeze is seen as a quarterback guru so maybe he wants to get a skilled player whom he can mold. However, would this be a big enough quarterback move for the Tigers and their fans or do they need to hit a home run? That may keep Auburn from making a move for Thompson, who may need some experience to reach his full potential.
