Zeke Mayo enters transfer portal: 5 possible landing spots

Texas is one of the programs on this list that has reportedly already reached out to Mayo during his short stay in the portal thus far and landing him would be a big win for head coach Rodney Terry. Texas was a solid offensive team overall in 2023-24 but lacked scoring when it needed it in both the Big 12 tournament and NCAA Tournament. The top two scorers the Longhorns had this season, Max Abmas and Dylan Disu, are both out of eligibility. While it’ll have a lesser impact, Texas will also lose guard Ithiel Horton and veteran wing Brock Cunningham. The Longhorns have a talented freshman class coming in headlined by guard Tre Johnson, but adding an experienced bonafide scorer like Mayo to a backcourt that already includes Tyrese Hunter would certainly help mask the loss of Abmas in particular.
