Five takeaways from Tennessee’s spring football game

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (BVM) – There were plenty of eyes on the Tennessee Volunteers’ spring game this past weekend due to the high expectations surrounding the program. Former No. 1 overall recruit Nico Iamaleava steps in as the team’s starter at quarterback as he looks to lead Tennessee to a playoff berth in head coach Josh Heupel’s fourth season in Knoxville.

The freshman redshirt looked good Saturday completing seven of his nine passes and throwing for 96 yards with a touchdown. He looked like he belonged, but that was expected by the Volunteers’ fanbase.

Outside of the play of the program’s star QB, who else stood out?

These are the five main takeaways from the school’s spring game.
