Shulga is a native of Ukraine and played high school basketball in Spain before coming over to the United States to play for Utah State. Shulga thrived while playing for Craig Smith and later Ryan Odom in Logan, particularly during a breakout 2022-23 campaign where he averaged nearly 12 points, 4.5 rebounds and four assists.
The 6-foot-4 guard followed Odom to VCU last offseason after he was hired as the Rams’ head coach and had a career year in his first season in the Atlantic 10, earning first-team all-conference honors as he averaged 14 points. 4.6 rebounds and 3.6 assists, shooting 44.6% overall from the field and an impressive 41.5% from 3-point range.
Shulga’s shooting ability on the offensive end should make him a hot commodity during his stay in the transfer portal as he searches for a new program for his final season of college basketball. Here are five landing spots for Shulga.
