Pete Alonso to be shopped?: 5 possible landing spots

NEW YORK (BVM) – It appears to be headed toward another disappointing season in Queens for the New York Mets. The ballclub is 10 games under .500 and bright spots are hard to find.

This could result in New York being sellers once again in the summer. Bob Nightengale of USA Today wrote on Sunday that it could be “the epicenter of the trade deadline.”

The biggest fish that the Mets, and perhaps any team, has to trade is slugging first baseman Pete Alonso. The 29-year-old will be a free agent this offseason, leaving speculation surrounding his future.

New York could look to move him in July to at least get some assets for him, but that could ultimately hurt its chances of being able to re-sign him later down the line.

These are five teams who should be aggressive in their pursuit of the three-time All-Star.
