The trade: The Predators acquire Ehlers. The Jets acquire Dante Fabbro and the No. 22 overall pick.

The Predators are in a great spot with their surprisingly successful season, plenty of cap space and a good prospect pool. They have a chance to build on that this offseason. Nashville has over $26 million available and it will have plenty of intriguing options to spend that money on. He would be one of the Predators’ best offensive players and the team would still have plenty of cap room after the move.

The Jets would likely want to add a current NHL player in any type of Ehlers trade. Fabbro has had a so-so career, but the former first rounder could still give Winnipeg some minutes on the back end. He is 25 years old and was a plus-nine in 56 games in 2023-24. A valuable draft pick would be needed to compete with other offers.
