5 teams who could trade for Cody Bellinger if Cubs sell
Philadelphia Phillies
The trade: The Phillies acquire Bellinger. The Cubs acquire Devin Saltiban and Alexis De La Cruz.
A center fielder is still a need for the Phillies, and with how close they have been to a championship in recent years, there is no reason why they should not be aggressive. Bellinger would be another addition to arguably the best lineup in baseball when healthy, and with how their pitching has been, it would be hard not to view them as World Series favorites.
Saltiban, Philadelphia’s No. 6 prospect according to MLB Pipeline, is the headliner of this deal. The 19-year-old middle infielder was a third-round pick in 2023 as a Hawaii high schooler, and got off to a great start in rookie ball with a .843 OPS. His numbers have not been as good in A-ball this season, but his potential as a slugging, speedy threat makes him intriguing. De La Cruz has a 8.78 ERA in rookie ball this season, but he is a 6-foot-6, 19-year-old with a fastball-slider combination.
