Zach Eflin on the trade block?: 5 possible landing spots
Houston Astros
The Astros had a poor start to the 2024 season but have rallied to put themselves in contention for another AL West title. Houston can probably win the division with the roster it has currently, but competing with teams like the Orioles, Guardians and Yankees come October might require a couple of deadline acquisitions. That could prove slightly difficult as the Astros’ farm system is somewhat depleted at the moment, but Eflin might be someone they believe is worth it who could also play a part in their 2025 plans. In the short term, Eflin would give Houston a veteran starter to pair around a solid core that includes Ronel Blanco, Framber Valdez and Hunter Brown. With Justin Verlander’s status still up in the air, Eflin could become an extremely valuable arm for the Astros down the stretch.
