Erick Fedde on the trade block: 5 possible landing spots
CHICAGO (BVM) – The Chicago White Sox have been the worst team in baseball in 2024 and recently became the first MLB team to lose 70 games before the All-Star break. As July comes to a close, the White Sox are expected to sell many of their top players for young prospects, including starting pitchers Garrett Crochet and Erick Fedde.
Fedde will be an intriguing name on the trade market as a former first-round pick of the Washington Nationals in 2014 who never really panned out during his time in Washington D.C. Last year, Fedde was out of the majors altogether as he played in the KBO League in South Korea where he went 20-6 with a 2.30 ERA.
This past offseason, the 31-year-old righthander signed a two-year, $15 million contract with the White Sox and he has carried over his momentum to Chicago with a brilliant 2024 campaign where he has gone 7-3 with a 2.99 ERA, a 1.13 WHIP and 99 strikeouts across 111 ⅓ innings.
Fedde has been one of the lone bright spots in a difficult year for the White Sox, but he could soon become an important piece for a team looking to make a postseason run this fall. With Fedde also under an affordable contract in 2025, he should be one of the top pitchers who teams chase over the next couple of weeks.
Here are five landing spots for Fedde if the White Sox deal their veteran starter.
